Business follows IT at Marisol

While many CIOs are choosing to focus on business needs, Brazilian apparel giant Marisol is experiencing a comprehensive business transformation as a result of a major software rollout. The company’s chief information officer Gelásio Schlup tells IT Decisions about the process in an exclusive interview.

Marisol is one of the biggest and best-known apparel companies in Brazil and owns a range of brands including Lilica Ripilica, which is being positioned as a Brazilian Hello Kitty of sorts. The firm is now experiencing seismic changes across all areas due to the replacement of its entire legacy, in-house systems portfolio by an off-the-shelf platform.

The implementation is the largest and most crucial project for Marisol’s IT department and, arguably, for the entire company. The new standardized set-up will cover – and change – processes related to all operation areas, from the development of clothing ranges to demand forecasting, supply chain, quality control and sales.
